A 2 day workshop

Thursday July 20        3-5  pm    Patina, polish and finish

Learn how to use metal clay to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Bring a small leaf, favorite rubber-stamp or pick a texture from our collection.

PMC is an exciting material developed in Japan.  Microscopic particles of metals are mixed with an organic binder to create a material that has the look and working properties of modeling clay.  Using simple tools, objects are given shape, texture and character.  They are dried and fired where the particles fuse to make a dense fully metallic object.

The workshop will offer an overview of needle felting as well as advanced techniques, and an opportunity to have time to explore the possibilities with this medium.  Inspired by the natural surroundings of Lake Superior and Madeline Island, students will learn how to create landscapes using needle felting techniques. We will begin with smaller pieces, experimenting with using dimension and texture, and will develop these ideas into a large landscape, with options to include botanical or bird themes. All materials and equipment will be supplied. All experience levels are welcome, and if you have felting experience you will find opportunities for developing advanced techniques.
